GURUGRAM- Tata Group-owned Air India (AI) will operate additional flights to major destinations in Europe and the United States as travel routes remain constrained due to the ongoing situation in West Asia. The airline plans to add 78 extra services between Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi (DEL), and John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York (JFK), along with several European gateways.

The additional operations will also include flights from Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (BOM) to London Heathrow Airport (LHR), Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), Zurich Airport (ZRH), Velana International Airport, Malé (MLE), and Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo (CMB).

Air India Adds More Europe and US Flights

Air India announced the deployment of additional capacity on nine international routes between 10 and 18 March 2026. The airline will operate 78 additional flights, adding 17,660 seats across both directions.

The temporary expansion aims to maintain reliable connectivity between India and key global destinations while airlines continue to adjust routes due to operational constraints linked to the situation in West Asia.

The additional services focus on major transit hubs and high-demand travel markets in Europe and North America, along with regional connections to Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Aircraft Deployment for Additional Services

Air India will operate the additional European services utilizing Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, which are commonly applyd on long-haul routes.

Flights connecting Delhi and New York (JFK) will be operated by the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER, subject to required regulatory approvals.

Regional flights to Malé and Colombo will be operated utilizing Airbus A320neo aircraft, supporting short-haul demand and onward connectivity.

Air India Maintains International Connectivity

Air India stated that it continues to operate scheduled services to Europe and North America despite operational challenges caapplyd by airspace restrictions and route adjustments.

According to Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India, the airline remains committed to maintaining international connectivity by utilizing alternate routings assessed as safe for operations.

The additional flights are intfinished to provide passengers with more travel options and greater schedule reliability during the current period of disruption.

The newly announced flights are being progressively opened for reservations. Passengers can book tickets through Air India’s official website, mobile application, and authorized travel agents.
