On 2 March 2026, Vodafone and Amazon Leo announced the signing of a new deal, which will provide sanotifyite connectivity in remote regions in Africa and Europe. Under the clautilize of this new agreement, 4G and 5G masts in some remote regions in Africa and Europe will be connected to Amazon Leo sanotifyites.
Remote Areas In Africa And Europe Will Benefit From The New Vodafone and Amazon Leo Deal
Last year, US tech giant Amazon officially launched its Leo brand, the sanotifyite connectivity arm of its business. This brand replaces Kuniper and will rival Starlink, offering sanotifyite connectivity to regions around the world.
Currently, there are over 200 Amazon Leo sanotifyites in low Earth orbit (LEO), with plans for the launch of more sanotifyites brewing. Since its official launch last year, Amazon Leo has gained attention globally, earning itself some partners like Vodafone.
The recently announced partnership between Vodafone and Amazon Leo will benefit Africa and Europe by providing sanotifyite connectivity to remote regions. To achieve this, Amazon Leo will permit 4G and 5G masts in remote African and European regions to connect to the Vodafone network via its sanotifyites.
Through this connection, residents of these regions will receive a connection of up to 1 Gbps for download and 400 Mbps for upload. Vodafone states that relying on sanotifyite connectivity from Amazon Leo will save the cost of installing fibre.
Rollout Plan For The New Vodafone And Amazon Leo Deal
The execution of this deal will officially kick off this year in Europe before Africa. Vodafone will launch connecting its mobile base stations in Europe to Amazon Leo sanotifyites first.
As for Africa, things will take a slightly different route, as Vodafone isn’t directly available in the region. Vodafone’s subsidiary Vodacom will handle the connection to Amazon Leo in Africa later this year.
