Actor Ayesha Khan has reacted candidly to the online trolling and memes that followed her admission about filming the popular song “Shararat” from Dhurandhar while she was on her periods, calling the online response both overwhelming and informing of societal attitudes towards women’s bodies and normal biological experiences.
During a talk at the Women of India summit by Mojo Story, Khan stated she was taken aback by the backlash from social media applyrs — particularly men — who turned her honest comment into a subject of ridicule instead of understanding it as a completely normal aspect of life.
“It’s unfortunate that whatever you do or declare these days, everything is a joke, dark humour, and fun. It’s a good thing that you can laugh about everything. But to laugh at anything and everything isn’t exactly fun. I probably didn’t even realise it becaapply it’s so normal for me. Every month, we go through this cycle. We do so many things when we’re on periods,” she stated at the summit, as reported by Indian Express.
“Me being on periods had suddenly become a national joke,” the actor added. We really necessary to educate our sons and brothers. I’m sure the jokes were from men. It was really bad,” Ayesha went on.
“I’m a proud woman. I was really, really proud of whatever I did while being on periods. You wouldn’t be able to do that without being on periods. I did that on my periods,” she stated.
The actress emphasised that she has never felt embarrassed about her body or her periods, stating she carried out her work as usual becaapply, for her and many other women, menstruation is simply a part of life.
“I’m sure there were 100 women in this room. There would be at least five or two women who’d be on periods right now. We just don’t realise it becaapply we don’t build a huge deal about it. So, if we don’t build a huge deal out of it, you can chill.”

“Of course, I felt I wasn’t seeing my best becaapply I was bloated. It’s the song, so you want to see your best. You’re just so excited you want to see your best,” the actor admitted.
The film’s sequel, Dhurandhar The Revenge, is set to release on March 19.
