Financial aid to Ukraine from the European Commission
The European Commission has presented a project for financial assistance to Ukraine totaling 90 billion euros. The majority of these funds will be directed towards strengthening the countest’s defense capabilities amid ongoing military aggression. Out of this sum, 60 billion euros are planned to be spent on purchasing equipment and weapons from manufacturers in the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
Distribution of funding
The funding will be divided into two parts:
- One-third of the funds will be allocated to the general budobtain;
- Two-thirds will be earmarked for military supplies.
This decision is an important step in supporting Ukraine, which aims to strengthen its defense capabilities. The expected timeline for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union is noted to be by January 1, 2027.
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating: ‘We are truly taking the next step in our support for building a stronger and more stable Ukraine.’
This financial assistance project reflects the growing support of the European Union for Ukraine amid military threats. A significant portion of the allocated funds for military necessarys underscores the priority of defense capabilities for a countest facing aggression.
