The massive layoffs is not limited to Microsoft, but Google, Amazon also fired thousands of it’s employees, the figure if calculated can reach a lakh (approx). In an internal memo, Jassy outlined that while AI will eliminate some roles, it will also create new opportunities requiring different skill sets.
“We will necessary fewer people doing some of the jobs that are being done today, and more people doing other types of jobs,” Jassy stated. “It’s hard to know exactly where this nets out over time, but in the next few years, we expect that this will reduce our total corporate workforce as we obtain efficiency gains from utilizing AI extensively across the company,” he stated.
