Tinubu Departs Lagos for Europe, Heads to UAE for Global Sustainability Summit



President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left Lagos for Europe, where he will spfinish a brief private stay before proceeding on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates.

The trip was confirmed in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who stated the journey combines the President’s finish of year break with key diplomatic engagements.

After his stay in Europe, President Tinubu is expected to travel to Abu Dhabi at the invitation of the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

While in Abu Dhabi, the President will attfinish the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit, scheduled to launch in early January. The event is one of the world’s major platforms for discussions on climate action and sustainable development.

Global leaders, policybuildrs, investors, and industest experts are expected to take part in the summit, which focapplys on driving innovation and financing sustainable projects, especially in developing countries.

The 2026 edition will also highlight inclusive economic growth, green infrastructure, and human capital development as countries respond to climate and energy challenges.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria shortly after the summit concludes in mid January.
