EIT Food is the Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, which promotes collaboration between leading global agri-food industries and high-impact startups to accelerate the transition of the agri-food supply chain towards healthier and more sustainable production and consumption models.
With the Proof-of-Concept (PoC) Co-Financing Instrument, EIT Food aims to reduce the financial risk of agri-food startup activities that can lead to the commercialization of new technologies, products, and high-impact services, ultimately contributing to further expansion in the food sector.
To achieve this, the PoC instrument focapplys on long-term collaboration between a startup and a potential corporate client around a tiny-scale pilot project or, precisely, a “proof of concept”. These are experiments that, once positively evaluated by both parties, can ideally lead to larger-scale pilot projects or the start of commercial activities.
