The new “FEFANA in Numbers” reports the sector’s economic impact and sustainability efforts, revealing high R&D investment and wide employment.
FEFANA, the EU Association of Specialty Feed Ingredients and their Mixtures, released its new report “FEFANA in Numbers”, which visually outlines the economic and sustainability contribution of its members in Europe.
Some key findings reveal:
- FEFANA members operate at least 169 production sites and employ over 20,000 people across Europe.
- 37% invest more than 5% of their turnover in Europe in R&D for animal nutrition.
- 4 in 5 members have taken steps to mitigate emissions in SFI production, including waste reduction and investment in more efficient technologies.
- Sustainable actions: 81% waste reduction, 79% investment in more efficient technologies, 69% utilize of sustainable raw materials, 65% investment in renewable energy, among others.
The specialty feed ingredients indusattempt is a knowledge-driven, reliable partner for the competitive livestock (79%) and aquaculture (7%) sectors and pet food indusattempt (14%). Active in every EU member state, it is composed of hundreds of companies, from multinationals to SMEs.
