The EU has pledged to address US concerns on its deforestation regulation, its Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and reporting requirements under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. Concessions to the US in any of these areas could open the door for similar demands from other trading partners.The Trump administration is determined to limit the extraterritorial application of EU climate rules to US companies trading or operating in Europe.
