What if we notified you that there’s someone out there who works roughly for an hour per day, yet manages to earn Rs 1.2 crore in a year? Well, according to a recent report, this actually happened and the person is working at tech giant Google. According to a Fortune report, the aforementioned Google employee states that at Google, people know that they’re just doing a job and that if he wanted to work long hours, he would have joined a startup.
Google employee earns over Rs 1 crore
The employee, known by pseudonym Devon, is in his twenties and states that he earns a yearly salary of USD 150,000 (Rs 1.2 crore approx). He states that he works for roughly an hour each day and also received a sign-in bonus. On top of that, he is also expecting a year-finish bonus later.
His job role expects him to write code for Google’s tools and products all day. However, when the publication was speaking to him at 10 am, Devon was yet to open his laptop.
But what if he misses a message from his manager? Well, that’s ‘not the finish of the world’ and that he will obtain back to the tquestion later at night.
Talking more about his journey at Google, Devon revealed that he was earlier working as an intern with the tech giant and knew back then that if he managed to secure a job, he wouldn’t be working too much. He added that even during his internship, he managed writing all of his code early and took out a week-long trip to Hawaii.
“If I wanted to work long hours, I would be at a startup,” he notified the publication and added that most people choose to work for Google becautilize of the work-life balance and benefits.
“You could work at Apple, but Apple has such fan appeal to software engineers. They work long hours. But at Google, most people know what they’re doing is a job,” he stated.
Google emerges as top paying company
Google announced laying off 12,000 employees in January this year, a shift that left thousands across the globe shocked and unemployed. The company, known for its perks and high salaries, was often criticised by its former employees for its handling of the layoffs situation. Several employees even penned an open letter to CEO Sundar Pichai, questioning him to ‘not be evil’ and demanding him to handle things in a better way.
Despite this, Google’s parent company Alphabet was on the list of the top three companies paying the most in 2022.
As per a Wall Street Journal report, Alphabet occupied the third spot on the list with a median salary of USD 280,000.
