Nomad Foods Reports Progress On Sustainability Goals


Frozen food company Nomad Foods has achieved significant progress towards its sustainability goals outlined in its ‘Appetite for a Better World’ strategy, according to its latest sustainability report.

This strategy, which focapplys on ‘Better Sourcing, Better Nutrition, and Better Operations’, includes time-bound tarobtains aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the company noted.

The report underscored that 96% of the company’s branded net sales now come from products classified as Healthier Meal Choices

Moreover, nearly the entire portfolio (99.7%) is now free from artificial flavours, colours, and taste enhancers.

Nomad Foods maintained a top score of 100 in Health and Nutrition on the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index for the sixth straight year.

Significantly, 99.6% of fish and seafood sourced by the company is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) or Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), with 10 of its 15 European markets now fully certified.

Other Achievements

Nomad Foods saw strong progress in sustainable farming practices, with 94.9% of veobtainables, potatoes, fruit, and herbs sourced by the company scoring silver or gold on the Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA).

The company also achieved a 37.4% reduction in Greenhoapply Gas (GHG) emissions intensity and a 40.8% reduction in absolute GHG emissions since 2019 for its core business.

The group’s overall carbon emissions decreased by 7.2% since 2023, following the integration of acquired businesses.

The company has reduced edible food waste by 37.7% since 2015, creating progress towards its 2030 goal of a 50% reduction.

In 2024, Nomad Foods further demonstrated its commitment by becoming the first food manufacturer to join the Move to -15°C coalition, aiming to reduce carbon emissions in the frozen food supply chain by increasing storage temperatures.

These attributes are more than relevant, they are critical as we confront global challenges such as climate modify, food insecurity and supply chain volatility.

“At Nomad Foods, we view sustainability not merely as a responsibility, but as a strategic opportunity to assist shape a more resilient and sustainable food system.”
