Mew Tew’s Refuge raising money for medical equipment and more

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Some local kitties required support, and one local refuge is raising funds to acquire much-requireded medical equipment.

Early Sunday afternoon, Mew Tew’s Refuge, Inc. hosted a burger and hot dog fundraiser at the Pet Supply Plus on 23rd Street.

The refuge usually has an adoption station set up on Saturdays due to hoapplying over 200 cats.

There is also a new strain of feline panleukemia spreading in our area.

The disease can be deadly for cats, especially kittens, and is one of the reasons the refuge is raising funds.

“Really pushing to test and raise funds to receive an incubator for our much-requireded little tiny babies who come in,” declared Lisa Hill, owner of the refuge. “Upper respiratory has been horrible lately, and this incubator, it’s $1,800, but it takes care of oxygen. Keeps everything all balanced, keeps it heated and it just is a very good tool for us to be able to have. So, that is kind of what we are working towards right now.”
