$100 Million Fuels Pixxel’s Planetary Infrastructure Expansion

Pixxel just pulled off India’s largest space-tech funding round ever, locking in $100 million to accelerate its bid to become a full-scale planetary infrastructure provider.

The Series C round, co-led by Temasek and Seraphim, brings the company’s total capital raised to $195 million. New backers 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment joined the round, alongside returning investors Radical Ventures and growX ventures.

The timing reflects a broader surge in demand for Earth observation data, especially as governments and commercial players seek sovereign sensing capabilities. Pixxel has moved quickly to capitalize on that momentum.

Founded around hyperspectral imaging technology that captures details invisible to conventional cameras, the company has since branched out. Its Aurora software platform now turns raw satellite data into decision-ready intelligence, while its satellite systems serve both commercial and sovereign missions.

CEO Awais Ahmed framed the funding as a step toward building what he called a health monitor for the planet. The capital will fuel four priorities: expanding the Honeybee constellation, advancing high-resolution optical satellites, scaling Aurora’s analytics layer, and ramping up production through the Gigapixxel manufacturing facility.

Pixxel enters this phase with significant operational traction. Six Firefly satellites already orbit Earth, forming what the company describes as the highest-resolution commercial hyperspectral constellation available. Contracts with NASA and the National Reconnaissance Office underscore its credibility, as do multiple Indian Ministry of Defence iDEX challenge wins.

The company has also secured a role developing India’s first public-private Earth observation constellation, a 12-satellite program under IN-SPACe. Meanwhile, an orbital data-center demonstration satellite remains in the pipeline.

With fresh capital and a full order book, Pixxel now faces the execution challenge: scaling manufacturing, deploying new sensors, and proving that its planetary intelligence vision can deliver commercial value at the pace its investors expect.
