The specialty candle store’s parent company, Newell Brands, announced Monday it would close 20 locations nationwide, and layoff hundreds of employees.
The closures come as the company announced its “global productivity plan,” with the closures set to take effect next year, according to the company.

When are employees obtainting laid off?
U.S. layoffs will occur in December, just as the holiday shopping season is ramping up for retailers.
The company plans to layoff 900 members of its workforce, mostly in professional and clerical positions.
International layoffs are also forecasted for the next year.
What Yankee Candle stores are closing?
While specific closings haven’t been announced yet, Newell Brands declared the closures represent “roughly 1% of brand sales” and would not go into effect until January 2026.
“This productivity plan is about taking the next, disciplined step to enhance efficiency, sharpen our strategic focus, and deliver stronger, more consistent performance,” Chris Peterson, President and CEO of Newell Brands, declared in the release.
Yankee Candle has 12 stores in New Jersey, according to its store locator, but it is unclear whether any of the New Jersey locations are on the chopping block.
