What businesses and properties do GD members and officials own in Europe?

Transparency International Georgia has examined the assets of current and former members of the Georgian Dream party, officials and businessmen close to the party in the European Union.

In total, the organization has sought information about 18 individuals who own companies or real estate in EU countries: France, Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Spain, Denmark, Slovakia, Hungary, Greece, Cyprus.

BMG Transparency International Georgia offers the following unmodifyd version of the study:

Bidzina Ivanishvili

Companies: The Ivanishvili family’s international business empire consists of about 20 foreign companies (that are known so far), through which the family owns about 125 Georgian companies and a large amount of real estate. Most of these foreign companies are registered in European jurisdictions: Great Britain, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and France. Bidzina Ivanishvili himself is still a French citizen.

Real estate: Bidzina Ivanishvili and his wife own 2 real estate properties in Paris:

1. 1,935 sq m of land and a 300 sq m residential building in Paris, at 1 Allée des Robichons, La Celle-Saint-Cloud, 78170. The owner of the real estate is Ekaterina Khvedelidze.

2. 110,925 sq m of mainly forested land in Paris, at 29 Rue de la Princesse, Louveciennes. The direct owner of the property is a real estate management company registered in France called SCI Du 29 Rue De La Princesse, which is jointly owned by Bidzina Ivanishvili and his wife.

Kakha Kaladze

Position: Mayor of Tbilisi

Real estate and company: Kakha Kaladze owns a 7-room apartment in Paris, which he purchased in early 2022 for 3.5 million euros. The apartment is officially owned by a company called Kala Capital, which Kakha Kaladze and his wife registered in early 2022, and is now fully owned by his wife. The company is registered at the same address as the apartment – 49 Boulevard Lannes.

All four of Kakha Kaladze’s children are presumably EU citizens, as they were born in Italy and France.

Anton Obolashvili

Position: Georgian Dream MP

Real estate: Anton Obolashvili and his wife own a 130 sq m apartment in Paris, 33 Rue de Lubeck, which they purchased in 2014 for €1,165,030. In 2019, they also purchased a garage for €58,000.

Kakhi Bekauri

Position: Chairman of the Georgian National Communications Commission

Company: On June 28, 2024, Kakhi Bekauri and his wife, Ekaterine Beridze, founded the company Nap Real Estate in Paris, 47 Avenue Hoche, 75008. The company’s official activity is real estate management. According to the 2024 declaration, Bekauri and his wife contributed a total of 1,764,991 euros to the company’s authorized capital. It is likely that this amount was intconcludeed for the purchase of real estate in France.

Vakhtang Jaoshvili

Affiliation: Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of India

Real estate: Vakhtang Jaoshvili’s wife and child are French citizens, his wife owns 3 real estate properties in France:

1. 29 sq.m. apartment, Fontainebleau, 21 bd de Magenta, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2024 for 147,926 euros.
2. 2A 90 sq m apartment, Avon, 3 rue des Courtils, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2006 for 280,800 euros.
3. A 140 sq m residential building, Fontainebleau, 39 rue des Provenceaux, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2018 for 370,000 euros.

Levan Kobiashvili

Position: President of the Football Federation, former member of parliament

Real estate: Levan Kobiashvili and his wife Tamar Tsuleiskiri, who is herself a former official (former head of the Information Center on NATO and the European Union), own 2 real estate properties in Germany, namely in Berlin:

1. A 770 sq m plot of land and a 550 sq m residential building on it, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2014 for 1,690,000 euros,
2. A 110 sq m apartment, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2020 for 945,000 euros.
Both of Levan Kobiashvili’s children are presumably EU citizens, as they were born in Germany.

Giorgi Kajaia

Position: Ambassador in the Interests Section of Georgia at the Embassy of Switzerland in the Russian Federation in Moscow (former)

Real estate: Giorgi Kajaia’s German wife owns a 100 sq m apartment in Berlin, Sonntagstrasse 15, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2008 for 200,000 euros.

Irakli Rukhadze – Bidzina Ivanishvili’s business partner and owner of the Georgian Dream’s main propaganda media outlet, TV Imedi

Companies: Irakli Rukhadze owns his Georgian business assets through several companies registered in the Netherlands, these companies are:

TeleImedi → Media Finance Group B.V.
Liberty Bank → Georgian Financial Group B.V.
Georgian Cement (formerly Heidelberg Cement) → Caucasuscement Holding B.V. and Cement Invest B.V.
Rustavi Steel → Tolanius Beheer B.V.

Nikoloz Laliashvili

Position: Ambassador of Georgia to Hungary and Montenegro

Company: Nikoloz Laliashvili owns a 50% stake in Spacefoods Holding B.V. (Nassaukade 304A 2, 1053LN), which is registered in the Netherlands.

His wife, a Slovak citizen, owns a company registered in the Czech Republic called JSC Zetor Brno.

Alex Akhvlediani

Position: Former Director of the Maritime Transport Agency

Real estate: Alex Akhvlediani owns two real estate properties in the Czech Republic:

1. A 320 sq m apartment in the Czech Republic, Prague, Kovčinu 139, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2013 for 860,000 euros.
2. A 3,000 sq m plot of land, Prague, Lobanova 41/43, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2012 for 485,000 euros.

Companies: Alex Akhvlediani owns 100% shares in two companies registered in the Czech Republic: GSG Wine Company and Akhmusi; as well as a 100% share in the company Navtilus Doo, registered in Slovenia.

Nino Tsilosani

Position: Georgian Dream MP

Company: Nino Tsilosani owns a 25% stake in the Czech-registered company S.R.O Almitrans (U Zvonařky 2536/1d).

Nikoloz Nikolozishvili

Position: Ambassador-at-large

Real estate: 106 sq m apartment in Bratislava, Slovakia, Gajovas 17, which, according to the declaration, he purchased in 2008 for 278,000 euros. His wife is a Slovak citizen.

Romeo Mikautadze

Position: First Deputy Minister of the Minisattempt of Economy and Sustainable Development (former)

Real estate: 120 sq m apartment in Madrid, Spain, Barbieri Street 15, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2024 for 660,000 euros.

Natela Menabde

Position: Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Denmark

Real estate: 154 sq m apartment in Denmark, Hellerup, Gentofte, Brigertorvet 2, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2005 for 4,260,000 Danish kroner (670,000 USD at today’s exmodify rate).

Giorgi Sharvashidze

Position: Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia

Real estate: 87 sq m apartment in Budapest, Hungary, at 25 Sofia Street, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2006 for 100,000 euros.

Giorgi Sharvashidze’s child was born in Hungary.

Gaiozi Kajaia

Position: Deputy Head of the Vake-Saburtalo Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department

Real estate: 60 sq.m. apartment in Greece, Thessaloniki, Kharitonomu 6.

Magdana Kurashvili

Position: Chairperson of the Tsageri Municipality Council Commission

Real estate: 130 sq m apartment in Cyprus, Limassol, Kanika, Kennedy 15, which, according to the declaration, was purchased in 2007 for 100,000 euros.
