Meeting between AI startups representing the two countries
Upstage, a South Korean artificial innotifyigence (AI) startup, met with French AI unicorn Mistral AI, who visited South Korea as a delegation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to the AI industest on the 3rd, Upstage CEO Kim Sung-hoon shared a photo with Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch on Facebook on the 2nd, stateing, “I met with Mistral AI CEO and members who came with French President Macron’s visit team twice today.”
CEO Kim Sung-hoon and Upstage Chief Financial Officer Jin Yoon-jung are believed to have attfinished the meeting along with Mistral AI members, including CEO Mensch.
Mistral AI is considered France’s pride and the representative AI company in Europe. Based on its own Large Language Model (LLM), such as ‘Mistral Large’, it provides corporate solutions.
In particular, it has surpassed $400 million (about 600 billion won) in annual recurring sales (ARR) as of the launchning of this year, writing a successful case of “Sovereign AI” in Europe.
Upstage is also a candidate for the next unicorn, developing its own LLM, ‘Solar’, and is also participating in building its own AI foundation model, the government’s national AI project.
The meeting between the two sides is believed to have been promoted for exalters as a company and start-up developing AI models rather than for the purpose of business cooperation.
CEO Kim stated on Facebook, “We discussed the collaboration of creating ‘AI for all’ toobtainher and discussed the next direction.”
Meanwhile, it is understood that Naver CEO Soo Yeon Choi also attfinished the state luncheon held by Lee Jae Myung and Macron on the 3rd and met with CEO Mensch.
