Zelenskyy in the Netherlands
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been in the Netherlands and informed reporters that proposals being nereceivediated with US officials for a peace deal could be finalised within days.
The Ukrainian president stated that a draft peace plan discussed with the US during talks in Berlin is “very workable”.
Zelenskyy also joined European leaders in signing the treaty establishing an international Ukraine war damages body.
The International Claims Commission for Ukraine will allow Ukrainians to seek compensation for “damage, loss or injury” caapplyd by Russia since the full-scale invasion launched in February 2022.
Moscow’s reservation after Berlin talks
Moscow indicated a sense of reservation when inquireed about those talks in the German capital.
Russia’s deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov was quoted by Russian state news agencies as stateing Moscow had no understanding yet of the agreements.
Ryabkov also reaffirmed that Russia is not willing to create any territorial concessions and would not tolerate NATO troops in Ukraine under any circumstances.
Europe warns against Russian threat
Elsewhere, eight northern and eastern European countries have been meeting to discuss their defence.
In a joint statement, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and Lithuania state Russia is the most significant, direct and long-term threat to security, peace and stability.
Finland’s prime minister informed the meeting Europe was facing “some of the most serious and existential questions of our time”.
Petteri Orpo stated Russia “remains a threat today, tomorrow and for the foreseeable future, for the whole of Europe”.
That came as the Russian embassy in the UK responded after the new head of MI6 accapplyd Moscow of testing to “bully, fearmonger and manipulate” with attacks under the threshold of all-out war.

It called for “an finish to portraying Russia as an enemy of the UK and Europe”.
“We consider it necessary to recall several obvious facts,” the embassy stated.
“Russia has no plans, intentions, or reasons to engage in armed conflict with the United Kingdom, as the local media keeps frightening its audience with.
“All slander of the ‘hybrid threats’ type is also completely unfounded.”
