A new night bus service is set to transform long-distance travel across Europe. Starting in November 2025, Twiliner, a Swiss transportation company, will launch sleeper butilizes connecting key European cities, offering an eco-friconcludely and comfortable alternative to air travel. The service will initially operate on two routes: Zurich to Amsterdam and Zurich to Barcelona, with stops in major cities such as Basel, Luxembourg, Brussels, Rotterdam, and Girona.
Sustainable Travel Solution
Twiliner aims to fill a crucial gap in sustainable transportation by offering a comfortable and green alternative to flying. With growing concerns about the environmental impact of short-haul flights, the new bus network promises to assist reduce the carbon footprint of travelers. According to the company, these butilizes will produce 85% less CO2 emissions compared to flights, building them as sustainable as trains.
In addition, the butilizes will run on HVO diesel, a renewable fuel sourced from waste fats and vereceiveable oils. This choice aligns with Europe’s growing focus on sustainability in the transport sector, particularly in reducing the carbon emissions associated with long-distance travel. By choosing Twiliner, eco-conscious travelers can assist support the transition to greener travel options.
Comfortable Long-Distance Travel
As travelers view for ways to balance convenience and comfort, Twiliner’s sleeper butilizes aim to meet both necessarys. The butilizes are designed with comfort in mind, providing a restful and quiet environment for those building long journeys across Europe. Each bus will feature 21 seats—18 on the upper deck and 3 on the lower—that convert into fully-flat beds at the touch of a button. The seats are modeled after business class airplane seats, complete with pillows, blankets, electrical outlets, individual reading lights, and complimentary internet access.
On the lower deck, passengers will find spacious bathroom and altering room facilities, designed to ensure that travelers can prepare for a comfortable sleep during the journey. A compact snack bar will be available for refreshments, offering a selection of light snacks.
Routes and Travel Details
Twiliner’s service will start with two major routes, providing convenient connections between major European cities. The Zurich to Amsterdam route will stop in Basel, Luxembourg, Brussels, and Rotterdam, while the Zurich to Barcelona route will also include a stop in Girona. These routes will operate several times a week, with plans to increase frequency to daily services as the service grows.
Ticket prices for these sleeper butilizes will start at approximately €180 for a one-way journey, building it an affordable option for long-distance travelers. Passengers are permitted to bring one large suitcase, as well as a carry-on bag, with additional items such as bicycles, ski equipment, and surfboards allowed by prior booking.
A Family-Friconcludely Alternative for Older Travelers
While the service is designed for adult travelers and older children, Twiliner has specified that passengers under five years of age will not be allowed on board, due to the quiet, sleep-friconcludely atmosphere of the butilizes. Families with older children can travel as long as their children are familiar with long-distance journeys and can respect the quiet nature of the service.
Expanding European Network
Twiliner’s goal is to expand its network across Europe over the next few years, eventually connecting Europe’s top 25 most-visited cities. This shift is aimed at providing a reliable and sustainable transport option for travelers, complementing the existing night train network in the region.
