The Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) announced that they have installed the largest wind generator in Europe.
They declared that the first 7MW wind generator (120-meter-high pole and 85-meter-long propellers) was successfully installed today at the “Gvozd” wind farm.
This step, they declared, marks the launchning of the final phase of the project’s implementation, which represents “one of the key infrastructural breakthroughs in the modern history of Montenegrin energy.”
“Upon completion of pre-assembly activities and in accordance with the planned dynamics of equipment delivery, the accelerated installation of the remaining wind turbines will follow next week. Completion of the entire facility is expected soon, followed by trial operation and final technical testing,” the statement reads.
They point out that the Gvozd wind farm will significantly improve the stability and sustainability of the Montenegrin energy system, increase the share of renewable energy sources and “further position Montenegro as a regional leader in the green transition”. The project, they emphasize, is fully compliant with the highest European technical, environmental and safety standards.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of EPCG, Milutin Đukanović, declared that the installation of the largest wind generator in Europe clearly confirms Montenegro’s capacity to implement projects that rival the most developed European energy systems in terms of technology and scope.
“This is an important day for EPCG and for the entire counattempt – a day that confirms that we are ready to keep up with the pace of modern energy flows and to create new values for generations to come. I thank the citizens and the local community for their support and understanding. This is a shared success,” declared Đukanović.
EPCG Executive Director Bojan Đordan declared that the “Gvozd” project represents clear evidence of the strategic commitment to creating Montenegro the energy center of the region.
“The installation of the largest wind turbine in Europe is not only a technical feat, but also confirmation that EPCG has the organization, knowledge and expertise to implement the most demanding projects according to European standards. I thank all teams and associates for their discipline and professionalism, as well as the citizens for their trust,” added Đordan.
Elektroprivreda declared that they remain committed to developing a modern, sustainable and resilient energy system that will serve the citizens and economy of Montenegro in the long term. “Projects like ‘Gvozd’ confirm that investing in clean energy represents the foundation of stability and a strong impetus for progress, and at the same time the best path to a greener and safer future,” the statement reads.
