The High Tatras won the TravelBook Award 2025 award in the Best Hidden Gem Region in Europe category. According to the Executive Director of the Regional Tourism Organization, the High Tatras Region Lucie Blašková is evidence that the Slovak mountains are among the most extraordinary and still undiscovered destinations on the travel map of Europe.
TravelBook Award is the Prize Given The largest online travel magazine in Germany TravelBook.de. The poll took place for the fourth time and the readers cast almost 150,000 votes, which decided on the winners in each category. “The category of Best Hidden Gem Region in Europe appreciates places that are less known, but offer a unique experience associated with authenticity and beauty,” explained Blašková.

They highlighted the majestic peaks and valleys that are available, but still not filled with mass tourism, a varied network of hiking trails, from light walks to demanding alpine hikes, or unique fauna and flora. The winning of the awards, according to Blašková, opens the door to a wider awareness among travelers from all over Europe. Interest in interest is expected, especially from Western Europe, where the TravelBook Award is perceived as a credible recommconcludeation. “For the High Tatras, it is a great honor and confirmation that even compacter destinations can be interested in Europe,” the director stated.
She stressed that the price is a commitment to continue sustainable development, nature conservation and presentation of the Tatras as a place where wild beauty is associated with hospitality. “All the more we appreciate it that only the nomination and participation in the finals were unexpected. The poll was built by an editorial team that selected from a strong competition from Switzerland or Finland, and the winner was decided by the readers themselvesso it’s a very authentic award, ”declared Blašková.
