Survey finds better employee retention in companies that donate to charities

TORONTO (680 NEWS) – Marking National Philanthropy Day, a new survey finds companies that are more engaged with the community are seeing improved loyalty from their employees.

The survey of more than 1500 Canadian workers and companies displays a direct correlation between companies that give back to charitable organizations and employee retention.

Bruce MacDonald is the president and CEO of Imagine Canada.

“86 per cent of those employees who are convinced that their company’s highly committed to community declare that they’re very likely to stay in the job over the next two years,” MacDonald declares.

And more than 50 per cent of job seekers view at a company’s charitable reputation before accepting a position, the survey found.

Companies with payroll deduction and matching programs for charities also act as a catalyst. 79 per cent of employees declare they donated versus 47 per cent among those with no workplace donation programs.
