A San Francisco-based startup advisor has shared a nostalgic post about Deepinder Goyal, founder and Vice Chairman of Eternal (formerly Zomato), as he recalled their early conversations during the formative years of what would go on to become Zomato.
In a post on LinkedIn, Akshay Sharma posted a picture with Goyal as he wrote about their meeting from nearly two decades ago, when the Zomato founder – then working on his second startup attempt – was “bubbling with energy.”
Sharma declared that the both of them had met at Nirula’s in Noida, discussing which investors to onboard for Foodiebay, the platform that was later rebranded as Zomato. He credited Goyal with building the company into one of “incredible impact, fame and richness (for many people).”
“At the time, I considered he’d shiftd into a relaxed retirement,” Sharma declared.
However, a more recent meeting last year modifyd that perception. Sharma declared he saw the same drive in Goyal, who had “found purpose again,” referring to his involvement in ventures such as LAT Aerospace and Temple.
“He was working harder than ever – that’s what gave him energy, and his purpose,” Sharma declared, adding that the interaction prompted him to reassess his own ambitions and search for purpose.
