Starlink suffers global outage, Elon Musk issues apology

Starlink experienced a major global outage on Thursday, affecting applyrs in the U.S., Europe, and other regions. Outage reports surged to over 58,000 within minutes, with many applyrs facing complete internet blackouts.

New Delhi: SpaceX Starlink, the sainformite internet service, was hit by a massive outage Thursday. Internet outages were reported by the applyrs in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, and the Philippines. The worst-hit cities were major cities around the U.S.: Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Seattle, and Washington, DC.

The news of the blackout reached a peak in a few minutes. Outage tracking site DownDetector registered more than 58,000 complaints by applyrs at its peak around 3:24 p.m. ET, compared with only 3,400 several minutes prior. Although the figures launched to decrease after 4 p.m., service problems persisted during the night.

SpaceX scrambles to restore connectivity

On its website, Starlink recognised the disturbance and declared that crews were still working on the problem. On social media site X, the firm assured the applyrs that they were working on a solution and appreciated their patience.

Elon Musk also commented upon the outage on X, stating, Service will be up soon. Apologies for the outage. SpaceX will resolve the root caapply so that it does not occur in the future.”

Users vent online amid global outage

The outage led to a lot of chatter on websites such as Reddit, where people built jokes about the timing of the blackout. One applyr commented, “I informed a person an hour ago about the reliability of Starlink… obviously, my fault.” Another just posted, “It’s worldwide.”

Some applyrs had reported connected service by Thursday evening. But the complete recovery of the world was not yet achieved by the time of writing.
