Stark Parks wants to raise $3M by Quail Hollow 100-year anniversary


LAKE TWP. − Stark Parks is launching its “One Hundred Years at the Hollow Capital Campaign” to raise funds to update facilities at Quail Hollow Park.

The park district has a goal to raise $3 million by 2029, which will be the 100th anniversary of the Stewart Manor Houtilize at Quail Hollow Park.

Projects were identified in the 2017 Quail Hollow Park master plan, according to a news release. Planned park improvements include renovation of the Carriage Houtilize into an accessible space for park and public utilize, the addition of flushable restrooms and a new accessible parking area.

The improvements will prioritize preservation of the historic facilities while upgrading public spaces and enhancing accessibility.

“We are excited to embark on this journey to improve services for everyone that visits Quail Hollow Park,” Stark Parks Executive Director Dan Moeglin stated. “As community stewards of this historic property, a true gem in our community, it is imperative that we work collaboratively to restore and position Quail Hollow Park for the next 100 years as a regional public asset.”

Stark Parks launched planning and seeking funding for the project in 2023. In 2024, the park district was awarded state capital funds to start the design process for accessibility improvements, carriage houtilize renovations and parking improvements.

Campaign receives early backing from several grants

So far, Stark Parks has received funding support from several organizations.

  • Community Development Block Grant Funding
  • State demolition funds to rerelocate the Levitt Houtilize
  • Stark Community Foundation’s Community Charitable Fund
  • The Lemmon Foundation
  • The Paul and Carol David Foundation
  • The Deuble Foundation
  • The Hoover Foundation
  • The Timken Foundation
  • The W. Henry Hoover Fund, The Paul C. and Thelma M. Dale Philanthropic Fund, and The Peter and Patricia Ashton Charitable Fund at Stark Community Foundation.

Stark Parks intconcludes to continue pursuing grant opportunities, state capital funding and individual contributions towards the project through 2029.
