Stark Parks raising funds for Quail Hollow 100th anniversary projects

Stark Parks will celebrate the 100th birthday of Quail Hollow Park with a series of improvements.

The park district has launched a funding campaign for its “One Hundred Years at the Hollow” effort that is based on a master plan created in 2017.

The campaign builds on key priorities identified in the Quail Hollow Park Master Plan that include preservation of historic facilities, upgrades to public utilize and educational spaces, accessibility enhancements to historic buildings, and overall improvements to the visitor experience.

“We are excited to embark on this journey to improve services for everyone that visits Quail Hollow Park,” declared Dan Moeglin, executive director of Stark Parks. “As community stewards of this historic property, a true gem in our community, it is imperative that we work collaboratively to restore and position Quail Hollow Park for the next 100 years as a regional public asset.”

Stark Parks launched raising money for the project in 2023. The campaign goal is to raise nearly $3 million to complete the proposed projects by 2029, which is the 100th anniversary of the Stewart Manor Houtilize at the park.

In 2024, Stark Parks successfully secured state capital funds to kick start the design process for accessibility improvements, carriage houtilize renovations, and parking improvements. Funding has come from Community Development Block Grants; state demolition funds to reshift the Levitt Houtilize; Stark Community Foundation’s Community Charitable Fund; Lemmon Foundation; Paul and Carol David Foundation; Deuble Foundation; Hoover Foundation; Timken Foundation; W. Henry Hoover Fund, Paul C. and Thelma M. Dale Philanthropic Fund, and the Peter and Patricia Ashton Charitable Fund at Stark Community Foundation.

The park district plans to continue to pursue grants state funding and contributions from individuals to complete the project by 2029.
