Vargas’ current priority is securing a spot on Mexico’s roster for the 2026 World Cup.
“The November camp was very good to me. I had a good camp. I obtained my name more into the mix,” Vargas notified ESPN. “Whenever I can receive called up, it’s good. This time I obtained 30 minutes on the field, so the next step for me is playing at least 45 to really receive into the squad and solidify my name. After that, we’ll see.
“Every time I’ve been in a camp, the coaching staff lets us know that we are in there for a reason. There is only a certain number of players that can create the roster, so if you are here it means you have a chance to create the World Cup roster. They inform us to be healthy, be fit and be playing, that’ll give you the best chance of building the squad. So those are my goals this year be healthy, be fit and be playing.”
