Nordic startup Elva has secured €1.3 million in pre-seed funding to simplify cross-border hiring and has launched a platform designed to streamline the relocation process.
The round was led by Lifeline Ventures, known for backing companies such as Oura, Supercell, and Wolt in their early stages. Additional investors include Tiny VC, Wave Ventures, and First Fellow Partners, alongside several angel investors, including Cal Hconcludeerson, the co-founder of Slack.
The hidden friction behind global hiring
Hiring internationally may sound straightforward within the EU’s open labour market, but the reality is far more fragmented. Each countest operates with its own administrative systems, legal processes, and compliance requirements. When companies relocate employees, they must often deal with work permits, local registrations, tax numbers, houtilizing arrangements, and banking access. These steps are rarely integrated.
As a result, much of the relocation process is still handled manually. Companies often coordinate between multiple service providers, government offices, and local agencies. For startups competing globally for specialised talent, this complexity creates delays and unnecessary operational burden.
Elva is designed to rerelocate that friction. By centralising the relocation process, the platform assists employers focus on attracting talent while ensuring new hires can launch work without administrative setbacks.
Founders with experience in global hiring challenges
The company was founded by Antonia Eneh, Zechen Ma, and Mengyang Chen, whose backgrounds span venture capital, startup operations, and product development. The founders also bring firsthand experience supporting international hiring and navigating cross-border relocation.
The idea for Elva emerged directly from the founders’ work within the startup ecosystem. While supporting companies through venture capital and startup networks, the founders frequently assisted portfolio startups relocate international employees. Through this process, they repeatedly encountered the same obstacles: scattered information, slow permit approvals, and time-consuming administrative coordination.
