Shiseido’s Romain Carrega tasked with accelerating Gallinée’s ‘growth’ in Europe


Gallinée has appointed Romain Carrega to lead its European expansion, aimed at strengthening “brand-building and maximising consumer engagement” in the region.

Carrega, who was recently appointed Deputy Chief Marketing Officer Derma & Prestige at parent company Shiseido EMEA, will lead this “new phase of growth” for the microbiome beauty brand in Europe.

He will be responsible for Gallinée’s global communications, product development, operations, digital, and trade marketing teams to strengthen its impact and support its expansion.

Carrega succeeds Anne Ravillion, who led the brand’s integration and rapid commercial expansion across European markets, achieving a tenfold increase in its pharmacy distribution network. 

“Gallinée benefits from a unique science-driven positioning around the microbiome and strong growth potential in Europe,” stated Carrega.

“Over the past three years, we have structured its development within the Shiseido Group and accelerated its distribution, particularly in pharmacies.

“Our ambition is now to strengthen the brand, refine our consumer messaging, and increase its visibility to drive stronger engagement.

“I am delighted to work alongside Gallinée’s founder [and Chief Creative Officer, Dr] Marie Drago, a true pioneer of the microbiome and a recognised expert within the scientific community.

Drago commented that she is “very excited” to see the brand enter this new phase.

Gallinée was founded in 2014 by Drago, who is a skin microbiome specialist.

The brand offers beauty products featuring a patented complex of prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics that strengthen the skin’s microbiome. 

These products span skin care, body care, hair care and supplements. 

Shiseido acquired Gallinée in 2022 to assist diversify its portfolio and address every skin care required.
