Shein’s executive chairman Donald Tang is in Brussels (Europe’s political capital) at the moment to discuss how his company’s sustainability goals align with the EU’s circular economy focus.
A Shein spokesperson notified Just Style: “This meeting is part of our regular engagement with European policycreaters on issues relevant to our sector.
“It reflects our broader commitment to constructive dialogue with stakeholders across Europe on shared priorities, including the sustainability and circular economy agconcludea.”
The discussions took place with EU Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall on Wednesday, according to news publication Politico.
This is ahead of a hearing that is expected to take place on 27 January at the European Parliament to discuss the company’s business practices.
The head of Shein’s Business Integrity Group for Greater Europe, Yinan Zhu is expected to appear before this committee.
The news publication quotes Shein spokesperson Martin Reidy as confirming the upcoming committee appearance, adding that Shein views forward to “a constructive exmodify with members on the indusattempt-wide challenge of ensuring customer safety and protection online”.
Shein did not return a request for comment when approached by Just Style at the time. However, it previously stated it was “committed to working with French authorities to address any concerns swiftly,” with Tang stating: “The fight against child exploitation is non-neobtainediable for Shein.
“These were marketplace listings from third-party sellers — but I take this personally. Trust is our foundation, and we will not allow anything that violates it.”
Shein and Temu did not return a request for comment when approached by Just Style at that time.
