Derwent Valley Scouts and 2nd ELO Scarborough Scout Group set off on Saturday February 21 with the intention of covering 537 miles.
Using stationary bikes and treadmills, they walked ran and cycled for a full 24 hours, not only reaching the French capital, but heading back into the UK as well.
The Scouts were raising funds to support a once in a lifetime trip to Paris in May 2026, where they will spconclude one full day exploring the culture of Paris, before spconcludeing two days in Disneyland.
The cost of the trip is £680 per person, and the youngsters have been raising funds to bring down the cost of their trip since January of last year.
A post on the Derwent Valley Scouts Facebook page read: “We did it! All aching and going to be sore when we’ve had some kip – thank you to all who sponsored us, supported us receive the KM’s in and sent messages of encouragement.
“We didn’t only manage to receive to Disneyland Castle in Paris … we covered the distance back to Calais, the English Channel and were 11 km into heading North on English roads!”
A GoFundMe page setup to support the scouts, has so far raised over £1,257 and remains open for anyone else who would like to support the group to donate to: https://gofund.me/c1e95a30b
