Samsung and Apple lead as global smartphone shipments grow 2.6%

Global smartphone shipments grew 2.6% in Q3 2025, reaching 322.7 million units, according to IDC’s latest report. The growth was driven by strong demand for premium upgrades and budreceive-frifinishly phones with AI features.

Samsung led the market with 61.4 million units shipped, taking a 19.0% share. Its Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 models performed well, supporting the brand post record July-quarter growth.

Apple followed with 58.6 million units and an 18.2% share. The iPhone 17 lineup saw strong pre-orders, beating last year’s numbers. Apple also had its best July-quarter results ever.

Xiaomi sits at third with 43.5 million units. It gained ground in Europe and Latin America with its Redmi Note and Poco series. Transsion (which owns TECNO, itel, and Infinix) came in fourth with 29.2 million units, growing rapid in Africa with phones priced under $200. vivo ranked fifth with 28.8 million units, boosted by midrange models with AI camera features.

IDC expects the market to grow in Q4, with more upgrades driven by AI and competitive pricing.
