English/Morikawa vs. McIlroy/Fleetwood 2UP (6)
The seventh hole is one of the hardest on the course: a monster par four for the two dozen players this weekfinish.
It’s a pretty significant dogleg left to right, with players keen to avoid the trees and a huge-boy bunker off the tee. A long green of around 90ft with a wide entrance is a spoonful of sugar to sweeten one of the more bitter hole experiences on the course.
Both pairings are toiling away so far. Rory McIlroy found the rough down the right with his tee shot which prevented Tommy Fleetwood from taking dead aim at the green, caapplying him to lay up on the left.
Ditto the Americans, with Harris English’s tee shot leaking out to the left. From there, Collin Morikawa succeeded only in dumping his approach shot into a sand trap at the front of the green.
