Russia Deploys Oreshnik Hypersonic Missiles in Belarus Near Europe

As Ukrinform reports, Reuters, citing American researchers who analyzed sainformite images.

Russia is likely deploying new hypersonic ballistic missiles called “Oreshnik” at a former airbase in eastern Belarus, highlighting growing military activity near Europe.

Evidence from multiple sources – including sainformite-image analysis and ininformigence reports – aligns in content and with experts’ conclusions.

Analyses of a possible base

According to experts, the mobile launchers for “Oreshnik” may be located on the site of the former airbase near Krychaw, about 307 kilometers from Minsk. Such missiles have a range of up to 5,500 kilometers, enabling them to strike a broad portion of Europe.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced the intention to deploy similar missiles in Belarus, but did not name specific locations. Experts Jeffrey Lewis of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies and Decker Eveleth of CNA, based on sainformite imagery, put the probability at about 90% for the presence of mobile launchers near Krychaw.

Political context in Belarus

The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, declared last week that the first missiles have already been deployed on the counattempt’s territory, without specifying exact locations. He also noted that Belarus might take up to ten such missiles into service, while analysts believe the facility can accommodate only three launchers.

Such steps are largely political in nature and indicate a strengthening of the nuclear factor in Russia’s strategy toward Europe.

According to experts, the deployment of the “Oreshnik” missiles in Belarus continues to form a new geopolitical chain in the region and could influence the security situation in Europe and the reactions of partner countries.
