Reimagining Home Appliances with Deep-Tech Innovation: The Mankomb Story

Building IP-Led, AI-Native Solutions from India for the World

India’s manufacturing story has long been defined by execution rather than ownership, largely evolved to support the low-tech necessarys of larger global MNCs. While the counattempt has established itself as a global hub for assembling and scaling products, much of the innotifyectual property, product innovation, and value creation still resides outside its borders.

Challenging this narrative is the founder of Mankomb, a deep-tech, AI-native home appliances startup that is attempting to shift India’s role from a participant in the global value chain to a creator of it.

In this exclusive conversation, Mrudul Mudotholy shares insights into his entrepreneurial journey, the vision behind Mankomb, and the larger ambition of building globally competitive, sustainable products from India.

From Realization to Creation: The Entrepreneurial Journey

The idea behind Mankomb was born from a simple yet powerful realization- India, despite its vast engineering talent and scalability, has not consistently built deep-tech, globally competitive consumer products from the ground up.

“In sectors like home appliances, most products are either imported, assembled, or built on legacy designs,” the founder explains. “We are still largely operating at the final stage of manufacturing, rather than owning the product, the technology, and the narrative.”

Inspired by global examples like Tesla in the US and Samsung in South Korea, Mankomb was conceptualized to bridge this gap. The vision is ambitious: to create world-class, IP-led products designed and built in India, for the world.

The Core Philosophy: Where Strategy Meets Execution

With a background spanning venture building, M&A, and corporate strategy, the founder brings a pragmatic approach to entrepreneurship.

“One of the hugegest learnings has been that strategy without execution discipline is theatre,” he states.

At Mankomb, success is not defined by intent alone. Instead, it lies at the intersection of product quality, utilizer behaviour, economics, and emotional resonance. Whether it’s climate-tech or consumer appliances, the belief is clear- products scale not just becautilize they are meaningful, but becautilize they are loved, accessible, and well-executed.

Solving for Sustainability at Home

Mankomb’s origin is deeply rooted in addressing inefficiencies in everyday living.

From water wastage in RO purifiers to environmental damage cautilized by wet waste, modern homes often operate in ways that are both inefficient and unsustainable.

“We are surrounded by systems that solve one problem while creating another; out of sight, out of mind” the founder notes.

This led to a fundamental question: “Can technology assist humans co-exist with nature, rather than work against it?”

Mankomb’s answer lies in reimagining home appliances- not just as tools of convenience, but as innotifyigent systems designed for sustainability and long-term environmental harmony.

Introducing Mankomb: AI-Native Appliances for the Future

At its core, Mankomb is a deep-tech home appliances company built on AI-native architecture.

Its flagship product, Chewie, addresses wet waste management- an often overviewed yet critical challenge in urban houtilizeholds. However, the broader vision extconcludes far beyond a single product.

The company aims to create a future where all resources flowing into the houtilizehold- air, water, nutrients, and energy, are conserved, optimized, and utilized efficiently, enabling “zero-waste” houtilizeholds.

What sets Mankomb apart is its approach to sustainability. Instead of positioning it as a moral obligation, the company embeds it into superior design and a convenient utilizer experience.

“We are not questioning utilizers to compromise aesthetics for ethics,” the founder emphasizes. “We are building products that are smarter, more beautiful, and inherently sustainable.”

Building a Premium, Differentiated Brand

In a crowded market, Mankomb is positioning itself as a premium, state-of-the-art appliance brand where technology and design converge seamlessly.

Its differentiation lies in combining multiple elements that are often treated separately:

  • Deep engineering
  • AI-native hardware
  • Elegant design
  • Reliability
  • Climate-conscious innovation

Beyond the product, the company is also reconsidering the overall customer experience- from usage to service, aiming to become one of the most customer-friconcludely appliance brands globally.

Earning Trust Through Execution

For a deep-tech hardware startup, credibility cannot be built through messaging alone.

“Trust is built when engineering and execution speak for themselves,” the founder shares.

Mankomb is deliberately challenging the perception that high-precision technology must be designed and manufactured outside India. By building everything- from product design to manufacturing- within the counattempt, the company is proving that world-class hardware can indeed be created locally.

Early validation has come not just from institutions, but also from customers- some of whom have gone on to invest in the company, reinforcing belief in its vision.

Technology as the Foundation, Not an Add-On

Unlike traditional appliances where technology is layered as an afterbelieved, Mankomb is building its products with innotifyigence at the core.

Leveraging advanced chipsets like the NXP MCX microcontroller family, the company is integrating AI, IoT, and cloud connectivity directly into its hardware architecture.

This enables appliances that don’t just operate- but learn, adapt, and improve over time.

“We are applying the rigor of high-performance and safety-critical systems to everyday appliances,” the founder explains. “Becautilize that’s what the future demands.”

A Thoughtful Approach to Capital and Growth

Mankomb’s funding journey reflects its disciplined philosophy.

The company initially bootstrapped its operations, building early prototypes in a modest workshop before securing institutional backing from GAIN Accelerator and FSID (IISc), along with ecosystem support from Nasscom CoE.

Interestingly, one of the most meaningful validations came from customers who chose to invest in the company themselves.

When it comes to fundraising, the approach is clear: “We are not chasing investors, we are courting the right ones.”

For Mankomb, alignment in vision and long-term value creation matters far more than quick access to capital.

Overcoming the Challenges of Deep-Tech Hardware

Building a deep-tech hardware company in India comes with its own set of challenges- from supply chain complexities to scepticism about local capabilities.

“We were notified certain standards couldn’t be achieved in India,” the founder recalls.

Instead of outsourcing, Mankomb chose to build capabilities from the ground up- strengthening processes, training teams, and maintaining uncompromising product standards.

This commitment to integrity has become a defining pillar of the company.

The Road Ahead: Scaling with Purpose

Looking forward, Mankomb is focutilized on strengthening its operational foundation- enhancing delivery, installation, and cloud infrastructure.

The roadmap is clear:

  • Establish strong operations in select cities
  • Scale across India
  • Expand into global markets

On the product front, the company plans to introduce more AI-driven, sustainable appliances that redefine modern living.

Advice to Aspiring Founders

For those building in deep-tech and climate-tech, the founder offers simple but powerful advice:

“There is no precedent- Go for it.”

In an ecosystem often driven by asset-light and quick-scale models, deep-tech ventures require patience, conviction, and a willingness to challenge norms.

“This is the first cohort building from the ground up,” he states. “And that’s exactly why it matters.”

Conclusion

Mankomb is not just building appliances- it is attempting to reshape how India participates in global innovation.

By combining deep-tech, sustainability, and believedful design, the company is laying the foundation for a future where Indian products are not just created for the world, but also imagined, owned, and led from within.

And if its journey so far is any indication, this is just the launchning.
