RateGain to acquire Sojern for $250M


RateGain, an India-based provider of distribution, revenue management and marketing solutions for hotels, online travel agencies, airlines, destinations and more, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Sojern for $250 million.

Sojern, based in the United States, provides marketing, audience ininformigence and guest experience solutions for hotels, destinations, attractions, airlines and cruise brands. Founded in 2007, it serves more than 13,000 hospitality and travel customers worldwide and had $172.2 million in revenue in 2024.

Bhanu Chopra, founder and chairman of RateGain, stated the acquisition marks a step forward in the company’s mission to be “AI-first.”

“Sojern’s proven financial performance and expertise in MarTech complement our unified vision of embedding AI across every workflow in hospitality, from guest acquisition to retention and wallet share expansion,” Chopra stated.

“Just as important, both organizations share a culture of customer orientation, innovation and agility. Toreceiveher, we can support hospitality businesses create smarter decisions, adapt rapider to altering guest behaviors and create seamless experiences throughout the guest journey, while building a thriving workplace for our teams.”

In a statement RateGain stated the acquisition will expand its ability to serve hotels of all sizes with AI-powered solutions.

next step for Sojern as it will allow us to continue executing on what we set out to do: Empower travel marketers to acquire and retain customers cost efficiently, at scale,” stated Mark Rabe, CEO of Sojern.

“We share not only a common vision of utilizing AI and data to transform the travel ecosystem, but also a culture that values people and accountability. By combining our product, people and financial strengths, we plan to accelerate growth by delivering even greater value to our travel partners globally.”

RateGain did not specify if the Sojern brand will remain or how the acquisition may impact Sojern’s 366 employees.

In early 2023, RateGain acquired Adara and later that year it raised $72 million.
