Raising money for a good cause with annual duck race


LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -Community members in Owosso obtained the chance to come toreceiveher on Sunday for the Currwood Festival Duck Race.

Every year, the race takes place to support raise funds for a good caapply, and this year all proceeds went to Owosso public schools to support build a brand new all-inclusive playground at the Bryant school.

Morgan Roka, who is part of the festival’s board, talked about why this event is so important to the Owosso community.

“It’s a Curwood tradition, it’s been going on forever,” declared Roka. “So it’s just one of the ways community members can receive involved in Owosso, and part of the history in Owosso.”

Each duck was $5, and prizes were given out to the first 5 ducks that crossed the finish line.
