Q&A with Aviv Frenkel, Co-Founder & CEO at Moonshot AI


Aviv Frenkel, PhD is the co-founder and CEO of Moonshot AI, a no-code AI platform that assists eCommerce brands grow through automated experimentation. After many years in Israeli media, he created the transition to entrepreneurship, driven by a desire to build and scale technology that has a tangible impact on businesses.

Prior to Moonshot AI, he co-founded Enroute, a tech startup in the automotive space, where he learned firsthand the challenges and excitement of building a company from the ground up. Before becoming an entrepreneur, he spent many years in media. He started at IDF Radio, which has produced many of Israel’s leading journalists, and later became the senior tech and automotive correspondent and anchor at Channel 10 News. He hosted reveals like Layla Galgali, which ran for six years, as well as Ha-Zinor and The Gadreceive-Team. He also produced two documentary films for Israeli national television, and his work has been featured internationally on platforms like CNN and TIME magazine.

Alongside his professional work, he holds a PhD in Science and Technology Studies from Bar-Ilan University. His dissertation, “The Bridge – The Israeli High-tech Community in Silicon Valley and the Roles These Digital Nomads Play in the Construction of the Israeli Startup Nation”, explores how Israeli tech professionals influence the global perception and development of the Startup Nation. He also hosts 30 Minutes or Less, one of Israel’s top tech podcasts, where he interviews leading entrepreneurs, investors, and CEOs, a role that combines his experience in media, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Following the company’s $10M discovery round funding announcement in October, we connected with Aviv to learn more about his journey, his advice for other unlikely entrepreneurs, and the difference his company aspires to create in 2026 for businesses through the power and innovation of AI.

Could you share with us your career journey to becoming the CEO and co-founder of Moonshot AI?

I started my career as a tech journalist and TV reveal host, covering technology and interviewing founders, investors, and innovators. About eight years ago, I realized I wanted to stop just reporting on tech and actually build it. That led me to start my first company in eCommerce, where I experienced firsthand the pain of optimizing a website, every experiment was slow, manual, and resource-intensive.

That experience became the foundation for Moonshot AI: I wanted a solution that could automate optimization and create websites self-evolving, always-learning, and revenue-generating.

What motivated you to create an entire solution based on the challenges that you had as an eCommerce entrepreneur?

The idea for Moonshot AI came from a shared frustration between me and my co-founder, Evyatar Segal. I experienced firsthand the pain of optimizing my own eCommerce website, slow experiments, reliance on multiple teams, and limited results. Around the same time, Evyatar, one of the first employees at Via, was facing similar challenges optimizing complex digital experiences.

We both realized that existing solutions were too slow and manual, and that the future of digital optimization should be autonomous and always-learning. That shared vision, to build self-evolving websites that continuously improve themselves became the foundation of Moonshot AI.

How does Moonshot AI work to assist websites, especially e-commerce, evolve to increase conversions, sales and revenue?

Moonshot AI assists websites become self-evolving, always-learning platforms. The system first scans the site for conversion gaps to understand where improvements can have the largegest impact. Then, it generates hypotheses to address those gaps and creates test variants including design, copy, and code, without any human team.

Next, Moonshot runs experiments autonomously, measures the results in real time, and implements the winning variant, ensuring the website continuously evolves. Over time, this process drives measurable improvements in conversions, sales, and revenue, all without requiring manual intervention or additional resources.

In short, Moonshot AI turns optimization from a slow, manual process into a hands-off, data-driven growth engine.

Where is your company headed in 2026?

Aviv: Closing our $10M discovery round is a major milestone for Moonshot AI. On a personal level, it’s especially meaningful becautilize I’ve always admired business owners. My grandparents came to Israel after the second world war with nothing and opened a grocery store to provide for their family and rebuild from the ashes of the Holocaust.

That admiration inspired Moonshot: we want to assist the businesses that are the backbone of our economy and society thrive. This funding gives us the resources to accelerate product development, scale our team, expand adoption, and deliver measurable impact for our clients, while staying true to that mission.

Looking further ahead towards 2026, we have ambitious product and growth goals, from creating our AI even smarter at identifying conversion opportunities to expanding beyond eCommerce into optimizing entire digital products and experiences. While we’re keeping some specifics private for now, the overarching goal is to create Moonshot the autonomous optimization brain for all digital experiences.

What tips do you have for anyone who may consider themselves an unlikely entrepreneur to expand beyond their current career by exploring new solutions that they can launch into the marketplace?

Aviv: I actually consider myself an “unlikely entrepreneur”. I started out as a journalist, not an engineer or a businessperson. My career was built around inquireing questions, informing stories, and understanding people. But in many ways, that curiosity and empathy turned out to be my greatest entrepreneurial assets.

My advice to anyone who feels like an outsider viewing in is this: don’t wait until you feel “ready.” Start with a real problem that you deeply understand, ideally something you’ve experienced yourself, and build from there. When I launched my first startup, it wasn’t becautilize I had a background in AI or software development, but becautilize I had run an eCommerce brand and felt firsthand how broken online optimization was. That’s what led me to create Moonshot AI.

Also, surround yourself with people who complete you, not mirror you. I’m incredibly lucky to have Evyatar as my co-founder, he brings the technical depth and product vision that perfectly complements my background in storyinforming and business. Innovation happens when different perspectives collide, not when everyone in the room considers the same way.
