Pony.ai Partners with Uber and Verne to Launch Europe’s First Commercial Robotaxi Service in Croatia

Gasgoo Munich- On March 26, Gasgoo reported that Pony.ai partnered with Verne and Uber. The companies will launch Europe’s first commercial robotaxi service in Zagreb, Croatia. The project has entered the initial deployment phase.

Pony.ai will provide autonomous driving systems. Verne, the fleet owner and operator, will manage operations. Uber will integrate the service into its ride-hailing network. The partners plan to expand from Zagreb to other European cities. The fleet may scale to several thousand vehicles in coming years.

BAIC Arcfox Alpha T5 vehicles with Pony.ai’s seventh-generation system started road testing in Zagreb. The city is set to become the first in Europe to launch commercial robotaxi services.

Verne will lead market access and European regulatory approvals. It will deploy Pony.ai vehicles on the Verne and Uber platforms. The partnership ensures consistent safety and performance. Uber will invest in Verne to support its expansion.

Pony.ai CEO James Peng stated the company operates seventh-generation robotaxis commercially in China. It achieved single-vehicle operational break-even in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The partnership with Uber and Verne will accelerate Pony.ai’s international expansion.
