The Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), with support from the European Union (EU), has announced a 10-week full-time legislative internship programme for young Nigerians. The initiative is designed to provide participants with practical knowledge of legislative processes and hands-on experience at the National Assembly.
This opportunity is ideal for young graduates who are interested in public policy, governance, and legislative practice, and are viewing to build relevant experience within Nigeria’s lawbuilding environment.
Internship Overview
The PLAC Legislative Internship will run from May to July 2026 and will take place in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Selected interns will work closely within the National Assembly, gaining first-hand exposure to legislative duties and procedures.
While the programme offers valuable experience, participants should note that only stipfinishs covering transportation and lunch within Abuja will be provided. Interns will be responsible for accommodation and other personal expenses. Applicants are therefore advised to either reside in Abuja or be prepared to cover their living costs throughout the internship period.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the PLAC 2026 Legislative Internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a Nigerian citizen aged between 21 and 35 years
- Must possess at least a first degree from a recognised tertiary institution
- Must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme
- Must have strong English writing and speaking skills
- Must demonstrate good computer knowledge
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Application Process
Interested applicants are required to complete their application online through the official PLAC internship portal.
As part of the application, candidates must upload a detailed CV in either Microsoft Word or PDF format. The CV must include key details such as state of origin, date of birth, and NYSC service information, including place of service.
Applicants are also required to include a Statement of Purpose on the last page of their CV. This statement should clearly explain their motivation for applying and should not exceed 300 words.
The CV and Statement of Purpose must be combined into a single document, with a maximum length of three pages. Additionally, applicants will be required to paste the Statement of Purpose into the online application form during submission.
Application Deadline
All applications must be submitted on or before 11:59 PM (WAT), Friday, 10 April 2026. Late submissions or applications that do not follow the stated guidelines will not be considered.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the selection process, which includes an interview.
