Photonics startup PINC Technologies secures $6.8m from Seed funding round

Photonics startup PINC Technologies has secured $6.8 million from a Seed funding round.

The round was led by Quantonation, a European investment fund tarreceiveing quantum and ‘deep physics’ startups, with participation from Wilson Hill Ventures, Freeflow Ventures, Hamamatsu Ventures, Qubits Ventures, Santec, and the Caltech Seed Fund.

Spun out of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2023, PINC develops integrated nonlinear photonic devices and circuits that can support quantum technologies and photonics applications. The startup declared it would utilize the funding to accelerate the commercialization of its technology, which is based on research undertaken at the Caltech Nonlinear Photonics Laboratory.

“Our vision at PINC is to bring nonlinear photonics out of the lab and into indusattempt,” declared Farzaneh Afshinmanesh, CEO and co-founder of PINC Technologies. “This funding allows us to scale our engineering team, accelerate product development, and build collaborations to enable new capabilities in industrial photonics applications, quantum computing, biomedical sensing, and beyond.”
