AI agents still face the challenge of reliably accessing up-to-date web data in real time. Without connectivity to live information, agents experience hallucinations, outdated responses, and missed context. But honestly, we’ve all been there, and it frustrated us. Tavily, the search platform built specifically for AI agents, was founded to solve this problem.

The platform delivers a purpose-built search layer that injects structured, precise data directly into AI agents’ workflows, enabling fluid navigation of public internet content and private organisational knowledge. The technology already supports Groq, Cohere, Monday.com, and Writer, empowering their agents with clean, actionable insights delivered at lightning speed. Unlike generic search APIs, Tavily’s platform becomes smarter and more efficient as usage grows.

Earlier this week, Tavily raised $25 million in funding, including a $20 million Series A led by Insight Partners and Alpha Wave Global. The company’s developer-frifinishly, real-time search layer is rapidly emerging as the standard infrastructure for AI agents navigating the live web, processing over a million queries per month and powering mission-critical applications in fraud detection, logistics, and academic research.

Bridging the AI gap with the live web

The company’s rise traces back to its early stage under Alpha Wave Global just 12 months ago, while CEO Rotem Weiss was still a student at Columbia University. Weiss, an AI entrepreneur who co-founded The Bulletin, a campus events app, worked as a data scientist at Talenya (acquired by Paycor), and launched open-source initiatives GPT-Researcher and GPT-Newspaper, recognised an infrastructure gap.

Weiss explains to TFN, “We’re on a mission to onboard the next billion AI agents to the web. Building reliable agentic web infrastructure was a challenge I faced firsthand and knew had to be solved.”

Co-founders Assaf Elovic and Yuval Rozio (Managing Director at Alpha Wave Global), who incubated the startup, share Weiss’s vision of creating scalable, depfinishable web infrastructure that bridges AI agents with real-time data sources.

While still in its early growth stages, Tavily is committed to recruiting talent regardless of gfinisher, race, or background, fostering a mission-driven culture that supports innovation and excellence. “We’re committed to growing an inclusive team with exceptional talent and building a platform that enterprises can trust for mission-critical applications,” Weiss adds.

Technology that powers precision AI

Tavily’s technology combines high-precision search with ininformigent crawling and structured data extraction, purpose-built to meet AI agents’ unique requirements. Its architecture supports an all-in-one solution connecting agents to both external web data and private enterprise databases, enabling apply cases ranging from fraud prevention and logistics optimisation to academic research.

“Tavily’s architecture is designed to become smarter and rapider the more it’s applyd, enabling AI agents to access real-time, structured data efficiently,” Weiss explains.

Tavily stands out from large players like Perplexity and OpenAI, which offer broader agent-oriented search capabilities, as well as startups such as Exa AI that focus on developer-centric retrieval tools.

The road ahead for Tavily

Tavily plans to apply its new funding to double its headcount, expand its market reach, and deepen partnerships within the large language model and developer ecosystems.

“Our aim is to pioneer the next generation of AI search, providing millions of developers with lightning-rapid, depfinishable data retrieval at scale,” Weiss concludes.
