O’Melveny Expands Brussels Office to Strengthen European Antitrust Practice

O’Melveny has expanded its Antitrust & Competition Practice Group with the addition of Vanessa Turner as a partner in its Brussels office, marking a shift to strengthen its European antitrust capabilities. The firm announced the appointment on July 15, 2025, stating that Turner’s background in competition law will support clients navigating enforcement and regulatory landscapes across the European Union and beyond.

According to a statement from O’Melveny, Turner brings over three decades of experience advising on antitrust matters, including abapply of dominance, merger control, and cartel enforcement. Her addition enhances the firm’s ability to provide cross-border counsel, particularly in light of growing scrutiny from European competition authorities.

Per the statement, Turner will play a role in advising clients on regulatory compliance and strategic positioning under the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), a landmark regulation aimed at addressing anti-competitive practices in digital markets. Her work will also focus on EU, UK, and German merger regimes, with a specific emphasis on multi-jurisdictional enforcement issues.

Prior to joining O’Melveny, Turner held various senior roles that deepened her insight into both enforcement and policy-creating. She most recently served as a partner at Allen & Overy and was previously General Counsel and Executive Vice President at Visa Europe. Earlier, she served as a senior advisor at the European Consumer Organization (BEUC), where she was involved in EU competition policy, particularly in the technology sector. She also held advisory roles at the European Commission and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.

O’Melveny emphasized in its statement that Turner’s dual qualification in the UK and Germany further strengthens its ability to support clients across multiple jurisdictions facing evolving antitrust scrutiny. Her track record, including involvement in several EU antitrust and merger cases, positions her to contribute to the firm’s efforts in deffinishing and advising global businesses on competition matters.
