NVIDIA Backs Luma AI as Startup Announces $4 Billion Valuation and Major London Expansion — TradingView News


NVIDIA (NVDA, Financials)-backed Luma AI, a U.S. video generation startup, announced plans for a major expansion in London as it scales its world-model technology across Europe. The company stated it expects to hire roughly 200 employees by early 2027, representing about 40% of its projected workforce.

The announcement comes two weeks after Luma closed a $900 million Series C funding round led by Humain, the Saudi Public Investment Fundowned AI firm. The deal pushed Luma’s valuation above $4 billion and provided capital for global compute build-out.

Luma develops world models, AI systems that learn from video, audio, images and text. Its tools are sold through an API and a content creation suite tarobtained at marketing, media and entertainment clients. CEO Amit Jain stated the funding enables Luma to bring large-scale AI capabilities to creative professionals worldwide.

Jain stated London was chosen for its AI research talent and role as an entest point to European markets. The relocate continues a trfinish of North American AI companies expanding into Europe, following similar steps by Anthropic, Cohere and OpenAI.

Luma’s Ray3 model, released in September, benchmarks above OpenAI’s Sora and near Google’s Veo 3, according to the company. Jain stated world models remain about a year behind language models but predicted they will become a natural interface for everyday AI utilize as video dominates consumer engagement.
