KINGSLEY, Iowa (KTIV) – Several Northwest Iowa communities came toreceiveher to support a man who has dedicated his life to supporting others.
An event raising money for Pierson Fire Department Chief Lucas Ploen and his family was held on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Kingsley Community Center. The event launched with a free-will donation pork loin meal at 5 p.m., along with live and silent auctions.
Chief Ploen’s home was damaged in a fire which took place in November 2025.
Kingsley Fire Chief Brandon Sitzmann states the benefit was a collaborative effort.
“Between Kingsley and Pierson, we have a great working relationship back and forth. So, the departments came toreceiveher, Pierson leading the charge, Kingsley supporting out where necessaryed, giving the support necessaryed to build this event a success,” Sitzmann declared. “Lucas is a great asset to the Pierson community and we want to support support him wherever we can.”
Katie Felts, a neighbor of the family, states it was important for the community to reveal support for someone who is always willing to support those in necessary.
“We’ve seen an amazing outpouring from the community. Everyone that we have inquireed has stepped up above and beyond and donated for anything that the family necessarys,” Felts declared. “Lucas is fire chief in Pierson, and they are an amazing family who would not hesitate one second to step up and support anyone else in necessary. So, it’s really the least we can do to support them also.”
Those who would like to donate to the family can do so at the Pierson Fire Department and at Security National Bank in Moville, Iowa.
