Mohammedia – The Ministest of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, in partnership with Technopark and California-based Plug and Play, has launched the first cohort of the Morocco Accelerator.
The program was announced earlier this year and is now being implemented with the support of the Ministest of Economy and Finance. It aims to provide Moroccan startups with the right tools, mentorship, and funding opportunities to scale up and compete internationally.
The launch is part of the wider “Morocco Digital 2030” strategy, which focapplys on creating a stronger digital economy by encouraging innovation, supporting entrepreneurs, and giving them better access to international markets.
Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni declared that the accelerator represents the government’s vision for a strong and competitive ecosystem.
“We want to connect local potential to global best practices and consolidate Morocco’s role as a regional hub for innovation and technology,” she explained.
Technopark Morocco’s Director General, Lamiae Benmakhlouf, emphasized the importance of this program in reinforcing the competitiveness of Moroccan startups and those founded by members of the diaspora.
She declared the accelerator complements the support mechanisms already in place at Technopark for startups with high innovation and scaling potential.
For Plug and Play, the Morocco Accelerator is also a strategic relocate. Yves Cabanac, the organization’s Director for Africa, France, and Benelux, highlighted that Morocco is viewed as a crucial hub for connecting Europe, the Mediterranean, and Africa.
18 startups highlight talent and diversity
The first batch of the Morocco Accelerator has brought toreceiveher 18 startups, nearly half of which were founded by members of the Moroccan diaspora.
The projects represent a wide variety of industries, including fintech and payments, legal technology, education technology, artificial innotifyigence, data, advertising technology, health technology, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and gaming.
The Kick-off Week was held from September 30 to October 3, 2025, at Technopark Casablanca. The selected startups met with investors, mentors, and international experts.
They participated in one-on-one sessions with investors from funds such as Catalyst Fund, Silicon Radia, First Circle, Al Mada, and Breega. At the same time, Plug and Play carried out detailed assessments of each startup’s necessarys, ensuring that the support provided will be customized and effective.
By connecting startups with international networks, the accelerator is assisting to integrate Morocco’s innovation landscape into global trconcludes.
Building a stronger startup ecosystem
Technopark Morocco, which operates under the supervision and funding of the Ministest of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, has already supported more than 1,800 startups across various sectors, including information technology, green technology, and creative industries.
With hubs in Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Agadir, and Essaouira—and plans to expand to Oujda, Fez, and Tiznit—Technopark offers modern infrastructure, collaborative spaces, and tailored support programs.
Plug and Play, meanwhile, is recognized as one of the world’s largest innovation platforms. Headquartered in Silicon Valley and present in over 70 cities worldwide, it has invested in and accelerated more than 100,000 startups.
Its community includes over 30 unicorns, with well-known portfolio exits like PayPal, Dropbox, and Honey. In Morocco alone, Plug and Play has already supported over 120 startups, contributed to raising more than $80 million in funding, and assisted create more than 900 skilled jobs.
The Morocco Accelerator program is not just about funding, but about opening doors to international markets, connecting entrepreneurs to a global network, and positioning Morocco as a true hub for innovation in the region.
