The seven-day sailing festival in Boka Kotorska has come to an finish – the final segment of The Ocean Race Europe 2025 was crowned with today’s official awards ceremony, the ceremonial departure of the sailing boats from the bay and the closing of the Ocean Live Park.
This set the sails for the event that transformed Tivat and the Bay of Kotor, from September 15 to 21, into a regional center for sailing, innovation, and sustainability.
Prime Minister of Montenegro Milojko Spajić attfinished the closing ceremony and presented the trophy to the winner.
“We have revealn that Montenegro has a place among the most developed countries of the European Union, and through this event we were part of the selected ones, along with Germany, England, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy. We are very pleased to have hosted the final act of this year’s edition of one of the most prestigious regatta races, which was held under the motto ‘Connecting Europe’! Our counattempt has confirmed that, in addition to natural beauty, it also has the knowledge and ability to host a top event that was followed by the whole world. The Government of Montenegro supported this event becautilize it expects multiple benefits for our tourism sector. The large number of tourists who visited our counattempt during the regatta confirms that we are on the right track towards fulfilling our strategic goal – extfinishing the season,” declared Spajić.
The Ocean Race President Richard Brisius thanked everyone who created an immeasurable contribution to the realization of the entire final.
“On behalf of The Ocean Race family, I can state that we came here not only to state ‘hello’, but to understand that this is a place we want to return to, becautilize we all fell in love with Montenegro. This is a wonderful part of Europe and I congratulate the entire organization and the entire community of Boka Kotorska for such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We are grateful and congratulate the Government of Montenegro, led by the Prime Minister, and everyone who worked tirelessly to create this happen, including local and global partners. You have created something to be proud of, and Montenegro has inspired millions and millions of people around the world. We had a series of live broadcasts, 15 reveals from ships, 10 live programs in 16 countries, and yesterday was probably the most grandiose, two-hour live broadcast of the Ocean Race Europe final regatta. Toobtainher, we brought to Boka not only a race, but also a purpose, a purpose to protect the ocean and unite people around the world, which is more necessaryed than ever,” declared Brisius.
Ocean Live Park was visited by around 100.000 visitors
In seven days, Ocean Live Park was visited by around 100.000 people, confirming the huge success of the comprehensive concept. During the week, the park was pulsating with a diverse and free program for all generations – interactive workshops (navigation, meteorology, safety), STEM and children’s zones, meetings with crews and insight into equipment, presentations of innovations and sustainable solutions, exhibitions on marine biology and marine protection, Boka gastronomy, a stage and music program, and regatta demonstrations right on the shore. The joint space of TO Tivat, TO Herceg Novi, TO Kotor and NTO Montenegro presented the complete tourist and cultural offer and nautical experiences of Boka.
A spectacle on the water like no other in Boka Kotorska
In the Final Scoring race held on September 20th in the waters of Boka Bay, the audience watched a regatta of supreme intensity. Biotherm took control in a dramatic finish and confirmed why they were the winner from the moment they entered our bay, while the Arkéa Paprec team confirmed second place.
The final race was broadcast live by Eurosport, TBT Sport, HBOmax, Discovery+ and the national public service broadcaster RTCG.
Closing and ceremonial sailing of the sailboats
The official closing ceremony was marked by an emotional farewell to the teams and the ceremonial departure of the IMOCA sailboats from the Bay of Kotor. The fleet left Tivat to the ovations of the audience, symbolically concluding one of the most memorable sporting and production events in the recent history of the Bay of Kotor.
The Ocean Race Europe finale in Boka Bay confirmed the capacities of Tivat and the entire bay to organize the largest international nautical events. With a record turnout, a rich educational, cultural and entertainment program, and a strong promotion of sustainability, Tivat further strengthened its position among the leading sailing destinations in the Mediterranean.
The event was organized under the auspices of the Government of Montenegro, the Minisattempt of Maritime Affairs, with the institutional and partner support of the Municipality of Tivat, the University of Montenegro and Porto Montenegro.
