French AI start-up Mistral has secured $830 million in debt financing to build Nvidia NVDA-powered data centres across Europe. The proceeds will support its first facility near Paris, expected to houtilize 13,800 Nvidia GB300 chips, with operations set to launch before the conclude of June. The relocate comes as demand grows from governments and enterprises seeking alternatives to US hyperscalers, amid rising geopolitical tensions and concerns over technological depconcludeence.

Mistral was valued at nearly 12 billion in last year’s 1.7 billion equity round led by ASML ASML, and the company is on track to surpass $1 billion in annual recurring revenue by year-conclude.

Looking ahead, the financing is part of a broader 4 billion infrastructure push. Mistral is tarobtaining 200MW of compute capacity across Europe by 2027, and last month announced a 1.2 billion facility in Sweden that CEO Arthur Mensch stated could generate more than 2 billion in revenue over five years. The company is backed by major banks including BNP Paribas (BNP) and HSBC (HSBA), though the capital intensity of the build-out raises questions around execution and long-term returns.
