Microsoft’s layoffs will affect 122 Bay Area and remote workers, according to a filing to California officials viewed by the Chronicle.
The Redmond, Wash., tech giant declared 86 workers would be laid off in Mountain View and Santa Clara as of July 12. Another 36 remote workers tied to the Bay Area are also being let go.
The company cited a decision to “reorganize and restructure operations” as the reasons for the layoffs. The company previously declared it is seeking to be more nimble and reshift layers of management. Microsoft is laying off around 3% of its workforce overall, or around 7,000 workers.
The layoffs include 82 software engineers, technical program management workers, product management engineers and others at 1045 La Avenida St. in Mountain View; one product marketing manager at 770 E. Middlefield Road in Mountain View; and three software engineering workers at 3201 Scott Blvd. in Santa Clara.
The 36 remote workers span software engineering, product management and marketing, financial analysis, data engineering, and other roles.
