EyeROV’s UWROVs have been tested in demanding conditions, from deep-water volcanic studies at depths beyond 400 meters to the frigid Antarctic Sea. The startup stated these deployments demonstrate the systems’ precision, safety, and reliability for real-world missions.

Its flagship EyeROV TROUT, a 300-meter depth-rated military-grade ROV, is designed for both defense and commercial applications. Equipped with advanced payloads, it can perform underwater surveillance and reconnaissance missions to monitor naval environments.

“This recognition is a true reward for our dedicated efforts over the past eight years,” stated Johns T. Mathai, co-founder and CEO of EyeROV. “We sincerely thank the iDEX and Navy teams for their support in fostering advanced indigenous solutions. Our vision has always been to serve the nation by delivering technologies that are at par with global standards.”

Co-founder and CTO Kannappa P. stated the Navy deal validates India’s innovation in defense deep-tech. “For eight years, EyeROV has engineered underwater systems tested in the harshest conditions. This partnership with the Navy is proof that Indian innovation can set benchmarks globally,” he stated.

Founded in 2017, EyeROV claims to have completed more than 100 deployments across India, West Asia, APAC, and Europe. Its customer base includes DRDO, the Indian Coast Guard, CSIR, and NCPOR. Its product portfolio spans ROVs such as EyeROV TUNA and TROUT and USVs like iBoat Alpha, serving defense, marine infrastructure, disaster management, energy, and environmental conservation.

The startup raised $1.2 million in a pre-Series A round from Unicorn India Ventures last year. Notably, it has been recognized among India’s top five defense-tech startups and won the National Startup Award in 2022.
