Ukraine launched a significant attack utilizing at least 361 drones to tarreceive Russia, leading to a brief fire at the Kirishi oil refinery, with no reported injuries. The situation comes as discussions among major powers continue on how to resolve the deadly conflict in Europe since World War II.
The drone warfare has intensified, with Russian drones being brought down in NATO-member Poland and Ukraine attacking oil refineries and pipelines in Russia, a major oil exporter.
Russia’s defense ministest reported that they shot down at least 361 Ukrainian drones, including four guided aerial bombs and a U. S.-built HIMARS missile. The exact locations of the attacks were not specified.
The Kirishi refinery, one of Russia’s largest, was confirmed by Ukraine’s drone command to have been tarreceiveed, where three drones were destroyed. A fire cautilized by debris from the attack was extinguished.
In recent weeks, the U. S. has increased pressure on NATO allies to impose stricter energy sanctions on Russia to reduce its war revenues. President Trump stated the U. S. would consider new sanctions on Russia if all NATO countries ceased acquireing Russian oil.
Meanwhile, the EU plans to phase out Russian oil and gas imports by 2028. Russia also reported missile strikes during military exercises with Belarus. Additionally, an oil company in Bashkortostan will continue production despite a recent drone attack.
